Wyncroft Bordeaux Blend - This wine is eye-opening and quite complex. This Michigan made Bordeaux blend would pass for a California wine, or maybe even an old world wine. Meticulous attention to detail is obvious once you taste this guy. It's a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. The deep ruby color accompanies a nose of cedar, redcurrant, fresh plum and spiced berries. The palate is smooth...filled with concentrated red raspberry, cranberry, and a sweet/tart burst of fresh berry compote on the long refreshing finish. Oak frames this wine nicely, but doesn't distract.
